A Recipe for Disaster: Impact of extreme weather on nutrition and metabolic health
Planetary Health is the study of how human wellbeing is intrinsically linked to the health of the natural world. Just as we shape our environment, it too shapes us; and to solve the health crises of today, we must expand our conception of health to beyond the human body. In this completion seminar, Caroline will discuss the two studies she undertook at the nexus of extreme weather and metabolic health. Study 1 investigated how extreme weather events have affected global nutrient supplies from 1964-2010, and Study 2 explored links between extreme heat indicators and cardiometabolic health among Indigenous communities in northern Australia from 2010-2015.
