AAAPC Webinar with Dr Olayide Ogunsiji: “Navigating a Career in Academia
Dr Olayide Ogunsiji is a Registered Nurse and Senior lecturer at the School of
Nursing and Midwifery, Western Sydney University, Australia. She is the Director of
Academic Workforce (Liverpool campus). Originally from Nigeria, Olayide migrated
to Australia in 1999 with a Master of Science (Sociology) and embarked on the
Nursing journey in Australia. She is passionate about women’s health issues and her
research interest are on intimate partner violence, female genital mutilation,
parenting and women empowerment. She has made a sustained, positive impact on
global health disparity of migrant and refugee women. Olayide is the founder of the
African Women’s Health and Support Organisation (AWHASO), a not-for-profit
organization for women’s health issues. She has presented at local, national and
international conferences and publishes in high impact journals. Dr Ogunsiji was the
recipient of the prestigious Dorothy Garrigus Adams 2021 Award for Excellence in
Service at the Sigma Theta Tau International Honour Awards Ceremony.
