Panel discussion: pursuing a career in Private Equity and Investment Banking

We are fortunate to have three Sydney-based panellists joining the “Pursuing a career in PE/IB” session. In this event, we will discuss career journey and deal experience with private equity investors Sean, David and investment banker Jerry. You will also have the opportunity to ask them questions in the Q&A session.

Sean Xu
Graduated from UNSW with a BCom in Accounting/Finance and a Master’s degree in Finance, Sean interned at PwC, KPMG and Deutsche Bank’s Investment Banking Division in Hong Kong during university. Upon graduation, he joined Goldman Sachs and then Commonwealth Bank where he was in the Corporate Financial Services team. Sean is currently an associate at the Sydney-based private equity firm Wattle Hill Capital.

David Cheng
David graduated from University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Law(LLB). Upon graduation, he spent three years at Sydney-based management consultancy Partners in Performance, and subsequently one year at Qantas Group’s Strategy team. David is currently a Vice President at the private equity investment firm ROC Partners which specialises in private markets in the Asia Pacific region.

Jerry Lu
With a BCom and a Master’s degree in Finance from UNSW, Jerry interned at Credit Sussie’s Research team in Sydney and Morgan Stanely’s Investment Banking Division in Hong Kong during university. He later started his career at the elite boutique investment bank Luminis Partners in Sydney where he worked on a number of large M&A transactions. Jerry is currently an Investment Banking Associate at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Sydney.
